High Speed Data Transmission for Non-EE's - Part 3 - Spreading Out

b2ap3_thumbnail_Blogpost-Image-5.jpgNow let's talk about spreading out, in that same large table model from Part 2, you can space the pairs of people out, creating more dead space between people. This reduces crosstalk, but at a cost of less people at the table, or less high speed signals in the connector.

An example of this would be Amphenol's HSB3 connectors, where numerous contacts of the standard HDB3 connector are removed adjacent to pairs of contacts that are dedicated to high speed signals.  The HSB3 connector has specific contact pairs capable of high speed communication, and that portion becomes "fixed" in its format, as opposed to being open.

In Part 4, we will discuss how you can control who talks at the "table". Stay tuned.
