FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Common Sources of Transients:

  • Load Switching
  • Lightning
  • ESD; Electrostatic Discharge
  • EMP; Electromagnetic Pulse
OVERVIEW

Amphenol EMP connectors protect sensitive circuits against transients caused by a sudden release of stored energy that can originate within or outside of the circuit.  These transients can be repeatable or random.  Amphenol EMP Suppression connectors are available with either Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) devices or diodes.

MOV connectors utilize MOV planar array devices with clamping voltages available from 22 to 47 volts.

Diode connectors are available with bi-polar or uni-polar devices and clamping voltages ranging from 7.0 volts to 200 volts. Both methods of EMP protection can be packaged together and/or along with EMI filter devices.

Internal housing of the MOV/Diode device offers weight and space savings over other available methods, eliminating the need for costly and bulky exterior suppression mechanisms.
