Amphenol sealed connectors use a proprietary epoxy backfill to provide a leak rate of 1x10-4 cc of helium/second or less at one atmosphere in aluminum shell connectors and 1x10-3 or less in composite shells. Epoxy sealed connectors offer a weight savings over fused glass insert/steel shell hermetic connectors in applications where the sealing level of a traditional hermetic is not required.
