The Clutch-LOK™ Connector is designed especially for high vibration, harsh environments such as aircraft gas turbine engines. Amphenol's unique clutch design means that you don't have to compromise the need for quick, smooth mating of plugs and receptacles in order to get increased uncoupling torque.

The Clutch-LOK™ actually tightens itself under severe vibration as shown in the following demonstration.

The movie will show:
  • A size 9 Clutch-LOK™ plug connector partially mated (1/4 turn) to a standard MIL-DLT-38999 Series III receptacle
  • A digital ohmmeter used to monitor continuity - notice the "L" which indicates an open circuit
  • An orbital sander which generates up to 50g vibration

  • When vibration is induced you will see:
  • The Clutch-LOK™ plug turn clockwise in the mating direction until the connectors are mated - "Watch the red line"

    Ruggedized VME64X Connectors
    Ruggedized VME64X
    The Ruggedized VME64X connectors mount to standard VME64X cards and backplanes, but have been designed to perform in a harsh military environment. The connector has a more rugged interface than standard connectors for improved vibration durability. Features include metal shells, ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection, a robust low mating force contact system, high-data rate compatible electrical and optical PO connector options,and more!

    Ground Plane Connectors (MIL-DLT-38999 Type)
     
    Ground Plane connectorFor high speed data transmission, MIL-DTL-38999 type connectors are available with metal inserts to maintain a common ground plane for all triax, twinax or coax contacts contained in the connector. These electrical connectors are available for all MIL-DTL-38999 insert patterns using size 16, 10, 12, or 8 contacts. Options include crimp termination and printed circuit tail contacts in either solder or compliant pin configurations. Shown in the photo is a special hybrid Ground Plane Connector with a standard Mil-Spec insert surrounded by a metal ground plane insert. This connector is designed for applications where the twinax contacts are required to be electrically bonded to a common ground while insulated M39029 signal or power contacts are also included. Applications include MIL-STD-1553B data bus as well as video, signal, and multiplex transmission. Patent pending.
