Copper Contacts

When you need superior electrical performance plus shielding to eliminate interference from outside electrical sources in a connector, Amphenol has the most reliable contact solutions. 

Amphenol offers a very wide range of contacts for most MIL-Spec and many proprietary connector applications, which include the International Space Station, Fighter Aircraft, Battlefield Communication Networks, and Military Ground Vehicle.

Contacts Usage:

  • Coax Contacts - Designed for RF/Microwave and shielded wire applications both low frequency and matched impedance available
  • Concentric Twinax Contacts - shielded twisted pair of conductors designed for digital transmission systems data bus 1553 systems
  • Triax Contacts - designed for shielded wire applications
  • Quadrax and Differential Twinax contacts - Designed for Ethernet, Firewire, Fibrechannel and Gigabit Ethernet applications.

Amphenol® Coax, Concentric Twinax, Triax contacts for Printed Circuit Board Applications

Printed circuit tail twinax contacts provide a cost effective packaging solution for limited space applications where connectors are attached to printed circuit boards. They are available for MIL-DTL-38999 Series I and III cylindrical connectors and for ARINC 404 and ARINC 600 rectangular connectors. High reliability is assured with factory pre-assembled contacts and standardized termination to the board.


Amphenol® Shielded Contacts for Ground Plane Connectors

Amphenol offers MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connectors for data bus, LAN and Coax, triax, twinax transmission lines with conductive inserts that ground the outer conductor of the coax triax or twinax contacts to the shell. These connectors are sold “less contacts” or as a kit part number shipped, packaged with your selected contacts. They will accommodate size 8 & 12 coax, triax or twinax contacts or size 16 coax contacts.


Coaxial Concentric Twinax Triax Quadrax Differential Twinax High Frequency Transition Adapters
Pin and socket contacts designed for RF/microwave and shielded wire applications. Sizes 4, 8, 12 & 16 Pin and socket contacts designed for protection from magnetic and electrostatic interference including nuclear electromagnetic pulse. Sizes 8 & 12 Pin and socket contacts designed for shielded wire applications with 3 conductors. Sizes 8, 10 & 12 Size 8 pin and socket contacts. An outer contact with 4 strategically spaced inner contacts forming two 100 or 150 Ohm matched impedance differential pairs. Size 8 pin and socket contacts. An outer contact with 2 inner contacts spaced to form one 100 or 150 Ohm matched impedance differential pair. Size 8 Coaxial contacts that provide high frequencies (DC to 40 GHz). Unique “Float Mount” technology maintains tight mechanical tolerances. Matched impedance quadrax and twinax transition adapters provide a method of launching from the high speed connectors to PCB boards.

    Amphenol provides a wide range of filtering solutions. You can select your options for your particular interference threats - VHF, UHF, MF1, HF or other filter ranges, then couple with a connector package of your choice. Or give Amphe­nol your custom shell design requirements for assistance in designing your unique filter solution.

    EMI Filter connectors are intended for use in temperatures from –55°C to +125°C. Attenuation will change with feed-through current and temperature.

    To assure reliability, connectors may be subjected to an attenuation performance test verifying proper assembly and grounding of the filters. Attenuation data on filter per­formance is stated in reference to a 50 ohm impedance
    system in order to allow filter performance to be more
    eas­ily translated into real world impedances. Those interested in determining the expected filter perfor­mance in an impedance system other than 50 ohms may refer to page 285 of this catalog or may contact Amphenol Aerospace for further assistance.

    The Amphenol® Brush Contact Technology has proven advantages over standard pin & socket contacts and Amphenol has a very broad family of brush contact products which are shown in this catalog.


    The Bristle Brush contact is used in military avionics packages and meets the requirements of MIL-DTL-55302. It provides high density in tight spacing, low mating/inmating forces, proven durability and long contact life. Applications for Amphenol connectors with brush contacts include:
