FAA proposes pilot rules and operational guidelines for eVTOL aircraft

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has published a comprehensive set of rules and guidelines regarding electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft including pilot training and certification, operational requirements, and more.
The proposals were published in the U.S. Government’s Federal Register journal on June 14. Comments on the proposals are due by Aug. 14.
The proposals come as the FAA anticipates the first eVTOL aircraft to begin commercial operations in late 2024 or early 2025.
