Boeing has been awarded a U.S. Department of War contract valued at up to $2.8 billion to design and develop a comprehensive modernization package for the Republic of Korea Air Force’s F-15K Slam Eagle fighter aircraft fleet.

Under the contract, Boeing will provide the design and development of an integrated suite of aircraft systems to modernize and upgrade the F-15K fleet. Work will be performed primarily at Boeing’s facilities in St. Louis, Missouri, with program execution extending through December 31, 2037.

The modernization effort is focused on replacing and enhancing key subsystems including avionics, mission computing, sensors, electronic warfare capabilities, and communications systems to sustain operational effectiveness into the 2030s and beyond.

The F-15K is a variant of the U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle tailored for South Korea’s defense requirements; Seoul operates approximately 59 of these aircraft as part of its long-range strike and air superiority force. The modernization program aims to extend the service life, interoperability, and combat capabilities of the fleet, building on a November 2024 U.S. State Department approval of a related $6.2 billion FMS package covering radars, mission systems, and support equipment.
