Edwards Air Force Base receives first eVTOL aircraft

Edwards Air Force Base in California has received its first eVTOL aircraft from Joby Aviation as part of the U.S. Air Force's Agility Prime program.

Edwards Air Force Base in California received its first delivery of electric vertical takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) aircraft from Joby Aviation on Sept. 25.  

 

The aircraft will be operated by Joby and U.S. Air Force personnel and will primarily be used to transport cargo and passengers. 

 

The aircraft were delivered through the U.S. Air Force’s Agility Prime vertical lift program that aims to accelerate development of eVTOL systems. The program’s contract calls for delivering up to nine eVTOL aircraft to the Air Force and federal agencies.
