Romania seeks to acquire F-35 aircraft

Romania has opted to acquire F-35 Lightning II fighters as the country continues modernizing its air force.
The number of jets the country plans to buy and the value of the potential deal has not been disclosed.
If approved by the country’s parliament, the acquisition would make Romania the third Eastern European country to seek procurement of F-35 aircraft.
The Czech Republic entered negotiations with the United States in July 2022 to acquire F-35s while Poland signed a $4.6 billion deal to acquire 32 F-35s in Jan. 2020.
